VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: An interview with Mike Pompeo

URBANDALE, Iowa – During his visit to the offices of The FAMiLY Leader on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, former U.S. Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo sat down for an insightful discussion with TFL President and CEO Bob Vander Plaats.

Their conversation included questions on foreign policy, living out Christian faith in government office, Pompeo’s upcoming book, “Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love,” life in the Trump administration, whether Pompeo is considering running for president in 2024, and more.

Through the conversation, viewers are given an exclusive opportunity to see Pompeo respond personally and candidly, to get to know the man behind the distinguished career.

In one exchange, for example, Bob asked whether international Muslim leaders were more or less likely to trust Pompeo because of his outspoken evangelical faith – to which Pompeo shared a behind-the-scenes story of a speech he delivered in Cairo, Egypt, and how he overruled his own speechwriters and the impact it had on international relations.

“Our team and attendees at The FAMiLY Leader were beyond blessed to have open and frank discussions with Pompeo about our nation and its role in the world,” Vander Plaats said of the visit. “In his previous roles serving as a U.S. congressman, director of the CIA, and cabinet member, Pompeo has accumulated a tremendous wealth of experience and knowledge, and his insight into our federal government and international affairs is profound.”

*NOTE: As this conversation took place before the 2022 mid-term election, some of the commentary is outdated by the election results.
